Intensive Tango Workshops

These Tango workshops are designed to help you increase the quality of your dancing and the enjoyment of the dance with your partner. Work on using clear structure of basic elements to dance your tango. The workshops can stand alone, but each class will benefit from understanding the previous class.

Workshop Focus: Line of Dance Navigation Part 1 and 2**
**These Tango Seminars are designed to help you increase the quality of your dancing and the dynamic and enjoyment of the dance with your partner. Work on using a clean embrace and axis to support salon elements and explore linear and circular elements; and using technical aspects to express the music and style of the orchestras.
The classes can stand alone but material will develop throughout the 2 days, so each class will benefit from understanding the previous class.
SCHEDULE:
Saturday, September 7
2:00-6:00 PM: (includes breaks and practice time) Topic: Using elements like sacadas in place, traveling sacadas, and barridas to navigate the line of dance. Vals and Milonga. Part 1

Guillermo Merlo is a true legend in the world of Argentine tango. Renowned for his elegant style, unique interpretation, creative choreography and powerful command of the stage. Guillermo is a dancer, performer, choreographer, instructor and coach. As a Tango Artist and Instructor, he seeks to share the richness that tango has to offer- compassion, respect, vulnerability and coexistence without competition.
He has toured internationally for well over a decade now.
Guillermo Merlo was a recipient of the 1997 and 1998 TONY AWARD for Best Choreography for the show ‘Forever Tango’ on Broadway and won first place in the WORLD Argentine Tango Championship in 1999.
Guillermo has performed in concert with several Symphony Orchestras (New Mexico, Long Beach, Costa Mesa, USA) and was commissioned to create a Tango Ballet for the Tulsa Ballet Dance Company. He was featured dancer on the PBS special ‘Tango Magic’ with Pablo Ziegler and the Orpheus Orchestra and had the honor of being the first non-Asian ever invited to perform at the Imperial Theater in Tokyo.
Guillermo served as a judge at The Tango Mundial, The World Competition for Argentine Tango in Montreal Canada.
He is the co-creator of Artango Dance School, the realization of over 20 years of experience in Argentine Tango.
