Each workshop stands alone but will develop throughout the 2 days, so each class will benefit from understanding the previous class.

Saturday, July 6: Walking Dynamics: timing, direction, step sizes. Playing the music using Beat, Rhythm, and Pauses!

Sunday, July 7: Workshop: Turning Dynamics: long and languid, short and sharp. Playing the music using pivots and spirals for Boleos and Wraps!

Luciana Valle, a member of Gustavo Naveira and Fabian Salas' "Tango Investigation" group from 1995-1997, has long been a favorite visiting teacher of local tango dancers, beginner through advanced. She is both an expert leader and follower, and has won widespread recognition as the best female teacher to come out of Buenos Aires in years. She teaches with fantastic energy and exuberance, has a wonderful eye for detail, and uses descriptive movement images, making complex actions accessible. Her classes focus on the structure of the dance, the technical keys to moving comfortably and expressively, and the strong connection between leaders and followers challenging and benefiting both leaders and followers alike.

Luciana's teaching is held in high regard in Buenos Aires, Europe and all across North America, where she regularly tours to teach tango to a dedicated and passionate following. This is an opportunity to study with truly one of the best!

CATS members have intensively studied with Luciana in Buenos Aires and are excited to bring her back to Connecticut to share her inspiring teaching with everyone!

Intensive Tango Workshops

These Tango Seminars are designed to help you increase the quality of your dancing and the enjoyment of the dance with your partner. Work on using clear structure of basic elements to dance your tango.

All of Luciana's work and teaching builds on usual and unusual ways to use basic elements in playful ways to build rhythm, style, and musicality, as well as techniques, mechanics, structure, footwork and combinations for creating fun illusions with followers’ and leaders’ techniques.
